Shannon Hurley
Choir Director
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching. She obtained a Teachers of Singing Certification Award (TOSCA).
Shannon has sung in numerous vocal ensembles, including Aparima Singers (Dunedin), Ionian Singers (London, UK), Atlas Voices, and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra Symphonic Chorus.
She has also been involved in musical theatre productions for the Taieri Musical Society (Dunedin), the Court Theatre, North Canterbury Musical Society (NCMS), Centrestage Rolleston, Showbiz Christchurch, and Ovation Theatre. Favourite roles include Maria in NCMS’s production of The Sound of Music, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Jack's mother in Into the Woods.
Locally, Shannon runs her own vocal studio, Yellowstone Vocal Studio.
Andrea Koorey
Choir Director
Andrea majored in Music and Drama at Waikato University and gained her Masters of Music (Vocal Performance) through Canterbury University under the tutelage of Dame Malvina Major.
She holds a Teacher of Singing Certificate Aotearoa (TOSCA) qualification in Applied Vocal Pedagogy and Vocal Science (Level 1), and a Performer’s Certificate in Singing from Trinity College in London.
Andrea teaches singing to many students across a wide range of ages and abilities, specialising in classical voice and musical theatre.
Andrea has belonged to various ensembles over the years including Atlas Voices, The Christchurch Symphonic Choir, The Christchurch Pops Choir, and Christchurch Cathedral Godley Scholars.
Andrea has been involved in numerous musical theatre productions, including Mamma Mia!, Wicked, Evita, Les Misérables (all Showbiz Christchurch), and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Company, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Annie and 42nd Street (all North Canterbury Musical Society).
